Dear Paul,
I have mailed across some TMY3 files from Meteonorm that SAM (even the converter macro) is unable to use. Request to find some solution.
Regards,
Anindita

Dear Anindita,
The TMY3 format files from Meteonorm that you sent have an extra column in the header. The standard TMY3 format has seven columns in the first row, but your files had eight. The third column is empty, so I deleted it and then SAM was able to read the file. I used a text editor to delete the second comma after the city name.
Best regards,
Paul.

The question is:
Given a spreadsheet with 8760 hourly values of every relevant variable, but with no specific format (id est, a plain xls file)...
Is it possible to convert it into a standard SAM input file?
IS it possible to convert it into any else format (TMY3, TM2, EPW, SolarAnywhere)?
Thanks in advance.

Hello,
The SAM CSV weather file format for solar resource data is a simple format that you can use a spreadsheet program to create. For a description of the format, see the "Weather File Formats" topic in SAM's Help system.
You could write a script or program to convert between the different file formats. SAM's Weather File Converter script converts from the file formats you list to SAM CSV, but not from SAM CSV to those formats.
Best regards,
Paul.
