Weather File Downloads Issue

Weather file downloads for SAM's solar and wind models are not working as of October 12, 2022. This will be fixed in next version of SAM, which we hope to release in November, 2022.

For wind models, the workaround is to use the latitude and longitude option (you can right click a location in Google Maps to find its latitude and longitude):



For solar models, a workaround is to download files directly from the NREL National Solar Radiation Database (NSRDB) website. Here is a short video demonstrating how to do that:

Myself and several others at my company are experiencing issues with downloading weather files. We are getting the following error. The email being used is the email that was used to register SAM.

This problem is caused by email addresses with a hyphen in the domain name (like name@domain-name.com). If your email address has a hyphen in the domain name, please This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and I will send you instructions for a workaround solution.

Hi there! I am evaluating the performance of an on-grid solar PV plant in Botswana, Gaborone, currently, there are only 2017, 2018, and 2019 weather data. May I kindly request an update on the weather data of Botswana. Thank you!
