Paul,
It was mentioned earlier in this thread but a configuration area within SAM that allows users to enter proxy information would still be nice. This way the application will know how to get out to the internet. It is difficult to circumvent our company's firewalls which is the case with most big corporations. However, since I realize this is not an overnight fix within SAM, I listed a few items below that our IT deparment needs to allow SAM to circumvent our firewall.
Thanks,
Nathan
-A list of URLs that need to be white listed.
-IP addresses that need to be white listed.
-Ports that need to be opened.
-And a way to incorporate our company's proxy information.

Paul,
I realized I didn't answer your other two questions.
We can't access the incentive, utility rate or weather databases within SAM.
I do not have any trouble downloading the SAM installation file from the website.
Thanks,
Nathan

Thank you Nathan. I will discuss this with the development team and let you know what we decide.
For now, you can at least find a list of all of the URLs that SAM accesses in the webapis.conf configuration file, which is in the same folder as the SAM executable file (c:\SAM\2014.1.14 by default in Windows). It is a text file that you can open with a text editor, just be careful not to modify it.
UPDATE (4/24/2014): The IP addresses should be relatively static, so you can use a ping test to find each URL's IP address. The ports are the standard (or "well-known") ports for http and https: http is Port 80, and https is Port 443.
As for the proxy settings, we hope to include those in the next version of SAM.
Best regards,
Paul.

Paul,
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly! We will make the changes on our end and look forward to the proxy settings being enabled in future versions of SAM.
Best,
Nathan
