Number of cells in series - PV module was created by Kyle Dean
Hello, I would like to get a little clarification around the "number of cells in series" input parameter in SAM PV module specification section. I noticed that changing this parameter has an effect on the graphical I-V curve that comes up in the window next to it, but i'm not sure if it actually modifies the I-V curve. For example, on a PV module that has 144 half-cut cells, should we put 144 or 72?

Hi Kyle,

When you choose the "CEC Performance Model with User Entered Specifications" option on the Module input page, SAM uses the number of cells in series input to help determine an initial guess for the iterative solution of the I-V curve equation.

For more on modules with half-cut cells in SAM, see sam.nrel.gov/forum/forum-general/3047 .

Best regards,
Paul.
