Half-cut cells was created by Oggioni
Hi everyone,
I was wondering about how SAM models half-cut cells. For example, are 120 half-cut cells modelled as 60 whole cells?
Thanks in advance,
Best regards,
Niccolò

Hi Niccolò,
SAM can model modules with half cells, for example the REC Solar REC315TP2SB 72 XV is a half-cell module in SAM's module library. However it does not treat these modules differently than whole-cell modules, so it won't capture all of the advantages of half-cell modules. For example, the self-shading model assumes modules with whole crystalline silicon cells and three bypass diodes regardless of the module you choose as described in Section 9.1 of the PV reference manual listed here .
Best regards,
Paul.
