How to increase sub arrays to more than 4 in SAM tool was created by Siewnarine
Good day,
I am currently working on a model and we may require more than 4 sub arrays in the shading screen. Please advise if this can be increased in the tool?

Hi Darren,
For SAM's Detailed Photovoltaic model, each case in SAM supports up to four subarrays, so it is not possible to define shading scenarios for more than four subarrays.
Depending on the system you are modeling, you may be able to use the Combine Cases macro to represent the system, as described in this post: sam.nrel.gov/forum/forum-general/1540 .
UPDATE: As of SAM 2021.12.02, the Combine Cases macro is replaced by the Calculate generation profiles and nameplate capacity from open cases option on the Power Plant page for the Generic System model and Generic Battery model. See the SAM YouTube channel for a short tutorial .
The image you posted did not upload properly. If you would like to include it in a reply, please attach it as a file using the Attachments button (you can then insert it into your message) rather than pasting it into the editor.
Best regards,
Paul.
