Thank you NREL team for your plan to constantly improve SAM. For commercial behind-the-meter solar+storage systems, I would like to see the ability to model a hybrid agreement, whereby solar generation is contracted as a power purchase agreement ($/kWh) and storage is charged as monthly service fee. This financial arrangement is emerging in some parts of the U.S.

Dear SAM Team,
It would be great if you introduce local currency for economic evaluation. I am using SAM for Indian Market and i would love to see the currency in Rupees instead of Dollars.
Thanks & Regards
Vamsee

Hi Vamsee,
Thank you for the suggestion.
It turns out that the currency symbols in SAM are hard-coded into the user interface in each instance that they appear, so making that a configurable option would require a significant effort.
Some of the options in SAM's financial models were designed specifically for India, such as the debt moratorium and return on equity calculation. We also created a "PV India" getting started wizard that assigns cost values in Rupees (although the dollar symbol is still used). You can find that from the Welcome page when you first start SAM:
For more on that work, please see sam.nrel.gov/international.html .
Best regards,
Paul.

Hi Paul:
That is correct. BTW I wrote solvers in LK to do what I requested in the earlier message in the thread.

Hi Kaiyer,
Would you be willing to share your script? Perhaps we could consider including it as a SAM macro.
Best regards,
Paul.
