Running P50/P90 Analysis with PVSAMV1 was created by Farhad Daruwala
Hello,
Is it possible to run the P50/P90 analysis in PySAM with PVSAMV1 modules? If yes, how can this be accomplished? Could not find any details in the documentation and would greatly appreciate any insights.

Thank you!

Hi Farhad,

The Parametric Simulation feature in the SAM user interface is not available in PySAM. However, in Python with the PySAM package, you can write For loops to perform parametric simulations and read results.

Best regards,
Paul.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for the update. To clarify, does the GUI calculate the P50/P90 values for each hour? Meaning, does it run the simulation for say 20 weather years and then calculate the Percentiles for each hour in the 8760 profile.

ThanksĀ

Hi Farhad,

No. The P50/P90 simulations in SAM calculate P values from annual values.

For a description of the method, see Dobos, A. P.; Gilman, P.; Kasberg, M. (2012). P50/P90 Analysis for Solar Energy Systems Using the System Advisor Model: Preprint. 8 pp.; NREL Report No. CP-6A20-54488. ( PDF 372 KB ).

Best regards,
Paul.
