Saving Work was created by mhdraper
Paul,
One issue that always seems to baffle me is the correct procedure for saving work.
After completing a new project, running analysis and viewing graphs, etc. it's time to save the "project file".
What's the difference between "save" and "save as" ... other than choosing a particular file format?
Also where should I be saving my project files? Are they automatically saved in the software program or should I set up a folder in my "document" files?

Dear Mike,
Both "Save" and "Save as" save a .sam file. "Save as" allows you to save the file to a different name. That works the same as in word-processing and spreadsheet applications.
You can save .sam files anywhere on your computer. You can save them in your Documents folder or anywhere else you save files for your other applications. SAM does not automatically save files -- if you close SAM without saving the file, you lose the work you did on the file.
Best regards,
Paul.

Paul,
I raised this issue due to the fact that many engineering programs I have used in the past saved project files within the software itself. It seems to have made retrieving working files a bit easier.
When using the previous version of SAM there were times I had to hunt for files when trying to restart a working project.
Have set up a new, dedicated folder just for SAM projects and that seems to be working fine.
As an aside, the electric load macro works great!
Thanks,
Mike -
