Conversion solar tower costs to USD 2012

Dear SAM staff,

I would like to know which methodology you have followed to scale up cost data in the 'Molten Salt Power Cost Model for the SAM, 2013' report to USD 2012, as I will have to do the same procedure with other NREL reports so as to perform some calculations with the above mentioned report.

Also, I would like to know if the cost data used in this report are real or nominal dollars.

After one day digging in the System Cost Data page, I could not find the way how NREL does to convert system cost data USD real 201X to USD real 201Y (say 2012).

May be you may have another hint to give me? Or a reader of this entry may know how to proceed?

Dear Tom,

The Excel workbook included in the reference I mention above shows how costs were escalated from the reference year to 2013 for the SAM default values. The PDF document explains the approach on Page 7, under "Power Tower Cost Model Spreadsheet and Reference Plant."
