Dear Sir, i was trying to run a simulation to compare two different characteristic solar PV systems (i) 2.5MW and (ii) 2.2MW to feed a 2.2MW Load. is there a way in SAM to determine the loss of Energy in 2.5MW System due to its limitation of power supply above 2.2MW?
If your question is about accounting for clipping losses that occur when the Array's DC output exceeds the inverter's nameplate limits, then the answer is yes. SAM reports an houry output variable called "Inverter clipping loss" that you can use to estimate the loss of energy. Because SAM runs hourly simulations, the loss is calculated on an hourly basis, not instananeous.
If your question is about a limit imposed on the system at the interconnection point, then the answer is no. In some cases, the utility or other electricity offtaker may impose a limit on the instantaneous AC output of the system. SAM does not estimate that sort of loss.
Best regards,

Paul.
