Question:
I would like to upload some .TM2 weather files from Australia but keep getting the following error message "Invalid weather dat; Check Data for hour 1"
Is there any reason for this? I've been using .epw files with no problem for locations outside of the US and .TM2 files for locations within the US... The problem is when using .TM2 files for locations out of the US.
Answer:
SAM's weather file reader has very strict format requirements, so it is possible that a small difference in a number format, or position of a column is causing the error. Please refer to the
TMY2 user manual
for a description of the format. Sometimes incorrect formatting of the header rows can prevent SAM from reading the file. You could try using a text editor to compare your file with one of the standard TMY2 files included with SAM to see if you can find the formatting problems.
If you have a way to cut and paste columns of data that were used to create the TMY2 file, you may want to try SAM's TMY3 Creator to create a weather file in TMY3 format. The TMY3 Creator will correctly format the data. See the TMY3 Creator topic in SAM's Help system for instructions.

Paul.
