How to Use SAM for Indian locations - PV utility Projects yield estimates and financial modeling was created by prabhatlakhera
Hi paul,
1. Can you pls explain how can we use SAM software for Indian locations.
2. How to use P90 and P50 yield estimates for utility PV projects using SAM.
Regards,
Prabhat

Dear Prabhat,
You can find several discussions about using SAM to model projects in India by searching this website for the keyword "india" -- you can type the keyword into the search box at the top right of this page.
Here are a couple of links to conversations that might help:
Specific Site and DNI
Help required for Data to run SAM's P50/P90 analysis
If you have a set of weather files for 15 or more years, you can use SAM's probability exceedance (P50/P90) capability to calculate the P50 and P90 values for the data. One of the planned improvements for the 2014 version of SAM is to make the capability more flexible.
Best regards,
Paul.

Hello,
NREL has developed a new set of weather files that you can use with SAM for locations in India. The dataset includes typical-year data suitable for most simulations, and single-year data that you can use with SAM's P50/P90 simulations (although the number of years is small for a statistically meaningful analysis).
The data is available from the NREL Renewable Resource Data Center's India Solar Resource Data page. To download weather files for a particular location, you need the locations latitude and longitude in decimal degrees.
Best regards,
Paul.
