I notice that when I overload the inverter to 1.2x, it gives the following warning notice:

pvsamv1: Inverter undersized: The array output exceeded the inverter rating 512.22 kWdc for 96 hours.

Production estimate seems to be high in this scenario. Curious if it actually accounts for clipping. Any chance you could confirm?

The error message tells you the number of hours of the 8,760 hours in a year that the array's DC output exceeded the inverter's rated input power. In general, if that happens for just a few hours, you can ignore the message and assume that the system's control electronics can manage the situation (typically by operating the array off the maximum power point). You can also see what's happening on an hour-by-hour basis by plotting hourly results on the Results page. As you'll see in the hourly results, SAM does clip the inverter's output to its rated AC output power so that the inverter's output is never higher than its rated capacity.

Paul.

Paul,

Is there a standard SAM output that measures the total kWh of AC energy clipped for the year?

Regards,
David

Never mind. I found it.
