Hello,
Although we designed SAM to model U.S. projects, you can use SAM to model a project in any country. To model a project in SAM, you need the following information:
1. A weather file describing the weather and renewable energy resource at or near the project site.
2. A physical description of the renewable energy system.
3. Information about the cost of installing and operating the system.
4. Information about the project's financial structure including taxes, debt, incentives, etc.
Some of the assumptions built in to SAM's financial models are for the United States. For example, assumptions about income tax and incentives may not be appropriate for all countries. However, we tried to design the inputs for those assumptions to be flexible enough that you can use them for non U.S. projects.
I hope that helps. You can find more information about using SAM on the Learning page , including links to video presentations about different aspects of SAM.
Please also refer to SAM's help system for more detailed information about SAM.
Best regards,
Paul.
