Reduced battery cycling and revenue with increased look ahead period was created by Tim Lam
Hi, I am have trouble understanding some results where longer look ahead periods in automated dispatch result in lower revenue for a merchant battery using market energy prices. I was of the expectation longer look ahead periods would result in better forecasting and discharging of the battery. I noticed that longer look ahead periods were cycling the battery less the longer the look ahead period but its unclear to me why. Is this the expected behaviour of the model?

Hi Tim,
This does appear to be a bug with the front-of-meter (FOM) automated dispatch option.. Please see the following two issues on GitHub.com where you can track them:
github.com/NREL/SAM/issues/2132
github.com/NREL/ssc/issues/866
Best regards,
Paul.
