Thermal Energy Storage Tank was created by Abhishek
Hi Paul,
I am designing a project using the Parabolic trough collector technique of the CSP. In the SAM I am doing physical trough model with non financial condition so that I will get some idea about the final annual energy output. And SAM is the software that is using the TES in the design but in my project I am not using TES (it just PTC to heat exchanger). So, In the SAM if I want to remove the TES then what should I do ? from some online help I found the way to remove the TES is make the thermal energy storage time zero. Is this correct way to do this ?
And also if I want to change the design layout and  want to remove that TES from the GUI, add some other sections in the GUI then how should I do this ?
Like you had mention in the previous posts that you just take the values default but How can I took the values default I should to know about how to calculate these values.
I also attach the .sam file there you see my input values and let me know what values are incorrect if you are free.
Last query is Can you give me the name of the research/plant paper there they had did via SAM for the actual data not consider the default values?

Hi Abhishek,

For the Physical Trough / No Financial configuration, you can remove TES from the system by setting Hours of storage at design point on the System Design page to zero. If you are starting from the default case, you will probably also want to set the solar multiple to 1 so that the solar field is sized for the power cycle, and not to provide excess heat to storage.

To model a parabolic trough system for a process heat application, you can use the Industrial Process Heat (IPH) Parabolic Trough / No Financial configuration.

It is not possible to modify the graphical user inteface (GUI) to remove input pages or add variables.

See the CSP Publications page for references to technical papers describing SAM's CSP models:  sam.nrel.gov/concentrating-solar-power/csp-publications.html

The CSP Validation page has links to papers describing comparisons of SAM's CSP models to data from actual systems: sam.nrel.gov/concentrating-solar-power/csp-validation.html .

Best regards,
Paul.
