Initial MW Output Setting was created by inreco
At some early project point, I seem to remember the input of the actual size of the solar farm (80 mw) that I wanted to design but now when I want to start a new project with a new MW setting, it's nowhere to found?

Hello,

I assume you are modeling a photovoltaic (PV) system. For PV systems you can use either the PVWatts model or the Detailed Photovoltaic model.

For PVWatts, you enter the system size in DC kW using the System nameplate capacity input on the System Design page, which determines the PV array's DC capacity. The DC to AC ratio input determines the inverter's AC capacity.

For the Detailed PV model, on the System Design page, the Modules per string in subarray and Strings in parallel in subarray determines the PV array's DC capacity, and the Number of inverters determines the inverter AC capacity.

If you are modeling a system with a single subarray, you can use the Estimate Subarray 1 configuration option to enter the Desired array size in DC kW and Desired DC to AC ratio. SAM automatically calculates the number of modules per string, strings in parallel, and number of inverters to get as close as possible to the desired values.

The electrical sizing information at the bottom of the System Design page provides information that you can use to refine these values.

The "PV Sizing and Configuration" section of the "System Design" Help topic has more detailed information:

Best regards,
Paul.
