So, when one starts a project in SAM, it askes you what output your're seeking of your solar farm. I selected 100MW. By the time I finished with all the other inputs, the financials come up with 330MW and a prices tag that I don't want. So why does it do that and how does one bring it back down to 100mw and a reasonable price tag?? Thanks!

Hello,
It is up to you to size the system on the System Design page and set the project costs on the Installation Costs and Operating Costs input pages.
Please attach a copy of your .sam file if you would like me to help troubleshoot.
Best regards,
Paul.

So even though I stipulated, at the start 100mw and then after all the other inputs, it calculates the actual output?
So, the way to reduce that is to reduce the number of modules/string? And that also is a way to reduce total construction cost?

Hello,
If you design a PV system with a nameplate capacity of 100 MW, when you run a simulation, SAM calculates the system's output in each hour based on the inputs you provide and the data in the weather file. On clear sunny days, the output should be close to 100 MW.
The inputs for project installation costs are on the Installation costs page. For the the Single Owner financial model, there is a construction financing cost (cost of interest accrued for construction loans during the construction period) calcuator on the Financial Parameters page.
Best regards,
Paul.

as far as financials, i mentioned this before. VC's don't charge interest just a flat fee and a ten-year payback period and it doesn't' seem that your system can accommodate this scenario. maybe it can but i can't figure it out. So, put the 20 mil in "Cost of Acquiring Financing" and the total Install cost that it comes up with $94 mil isn't visible in the cash flow financial and neither is the Net Capital Cost of $118 mil
