Custom Generation Profile - Battery Model

Hi,

I have tried to find some more information about this model without success, as the available info is not elaborative enough for me to understand it completely.

I have a merchant PV-BESS system, where I want to simulate the revenue from biding on a an ancillary service (e.g. FCR-N) where only the battery system costs/discharge is taken into account when calculating evaluation metrics such as NPV and IRR.

I have hourly lifetime price data, but I couldn't model that in the PV-Battery model without SAM including overall system costs and energy production into the calculations.

Question is, if I provide the energy production profile from my PV-BESS system into this (Custom Generation Profile - Battery Model) will it calculate that for me?? or is there another way to do that?? (preferably not manually, as I have tenths of simulations to do)

Hi Ali,

If you want to remove the costs associated with PV-related equipment in the system, you could set the PV cost inputs (installation and operating) to zero.

For revenue calculations, it is not possible to separate sales of power discharged by the battery to the grid and power delivered by the PV array to the grid.

SAM does report time series "Electricity to grid from battery AC (kW)" and "Electricity to grid from system AC (kW)" (where the system is defined as the PV system for a PV-Battery configuration).
