Weather input data for Europe was created by Maria Z
I would highly appreciate your guidance on using the SAM tool for locations outside the US.
I am trying to upload the weather resource data for a specific geographic location in Poland by using Energy Plus data base in epw format, as indicated by you from sam.nrel.gov/weather-data.html but I get the following error in the system :
"Could not check hub height compared to resource height. This may indicate a problem with your weather file"
Moreover, I would appreciate your guidance for using PVGIS data base as the input weather resource data for a specific geographic location in the model.
- Shall I download the file from PVGIS as an .epw file and uploaded in the section "Weather data information".
- Is the same procedure to be followed for the the whole process (inventer, module etc) ?
Thank you in advance,
Maria

Hi Maria,
It is not clear from your question, but I think you are modeling a wind power system. We do not recommend using solar resource data from the NREL NSRDB, or EPW files designed for EnergyPlus building models for wind power modeling because the wind resource data in those files is for heights close to the ground. The wind speed and direction data in these files is suitable for modeling the effect of wind on the temperature of solar modules and collectors that are installed close to the ground, but not for wind turbines with hub heights high above the ground.
The NREL Wind Resource Database (WRDB) provides wind data files suitable for wind power analysis for some parts of the world: wrdb.nrel.gov/ .
Best regards,
Paul.
