Importing 3D files

    What file extensions can be imported into a 3D shading rendering (the 3D shade calculator)? Is it interoperable with other CAD softwares (Autocad .dxf, Rhino .3dm, etc.)? If not, can these extensions be converted?

Hi Henry,

SAM's 3D Shade Calculator does not automatically import data from CAD software. The Import and Export buttons export files in the special .s3d format so you can save your shade scenes. From the calculator's Help system:

 

SAM's scripting language LK Script is integrated with the 3D Shade Calculator, so it would be possible to write your own code to import CAD files.
