In SAM Wind - land space notes in Turbine layout doesn't match results approx land usage was created by davescha
Please see the attached pdf, of my input and output screens. Was modeling a 10MW system using 6 Vestas V82-1.65 windmills, the layout is attached and the required area is approx 1200M x 800M or 960,000 m^2 according to the units on the chart in the input screen shown. The results table is included at it indicates approx 18,000m^2 land usage which a significant difference....is this an error or can you explain....thanks!!

Hello,
Please see the Land Area help topic for a description of how SAM calculates the "Approximate land use" metric for the wind power model.
This land area represents the approximate area required by the wind turbine footprints with additional area for roads and a staging area or O&M building rather than the area defined by the boundaries of the wind farm.
Best regards,
Paul.
