Error ocurred when run Reopt in SAM was created by SharonWJW
Hi,
I encountered an error when trying to size and dispatch the battery system in a PV-battery system analysis using SAM. The Error information is as below:
Could not evaluate callback function:call_reopt->on_change
[71]: error in call to 'reopt_size_battery()': access violation: expected hash table, but found null[12]: eval error in statement list
I had the same error on both SAM version 2022 and 2023. I have attached one of the .sam files that generates this messag.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Best Regards
Sharon

Hi Sharon,
We are working to resolve this issue: github.com/NREL/SAM/issues/1830
In the meantime, as a workaround, you might try running the online version of REopt to get the optimal battery size and dispatch for your project and then use that information in SAM. (Use the "Download all dispatch data" button to access the hourly results.)
Best regards,
Paul.

Hi Paul,
Thank you for your reply. The problem with the online version of REopt is that it does not allow me to model the PV system generation as I do in SAM. I need to model the battery as it can be charged by both the PV system and the utility grid. I saw that on the GitHub page you sent me, it is stated that this problem occurs in the MAC OS system with the default PV Battery / Commercial case. I encountered this problem also in the Windows system with the PV Battery / Commercial case. Is there any case of a PV battery system in SAM that doesn't have this problem?
I appreciate your help.
Sharon

Hi Sharon,
There are a few different related problems that we are working to fix with the way SAM interacts with the REopt API. We fixed one problem that only affected Mac versions of SAM, but we're also sorting out problems that are present on Windows, Mac, and Linux.
Sorry about this. We are planning to release a new version of SAM in the next few weeks that should fix these problems.
Best regards,
Paul.
