Australian Wind Data was created by Jake Elliot
Hi,
I'm currently trying to model some wind data for Thursday Island, North QLD. I have looked at other forums and the help guides to convert my data to CSV format but am getting the following error. I'm trying to model daily averages for the year, as I cant get access to hourly data.
The error is:
exec fail(windpower): invalid number of data records (365): must be an integer multiple of 8760
Simulation windpower failed :exec fail(windpower): invalid number of data records (365): must be an integer multiple of 8760
gen not assigned
Simulation grid failed :gen not assigned
I have attached my CSV file for reference.
Kind regards,
Jake

Hi Jake,
SAM's wind power model requires a weather file with one year's worth of hourly or subhourly data starting January 1 and ending December 31. A file with hourly data would have 8760 rows. Your file has 365 rows of daily data.

Best regards,

Hi Jake,
I am also in the process of utilising SAM's wind power model for Australian Wind Data. I am encountering challenges in finding publicly accessible Australian wind data that encompasses all the required variables in SAM. If you have managed to find hourly wind data and are able to share this database, it would be immensely appreciated.Thank you for your time.
Kind regards,
Kate
