        Dear Gentlemen,
There is the concept “fossil backup” in SAM.
Does it mean the system that is active instead of the solar field after sunset ?
Regards,
Rahmi

        Dear Rahmi,
The fossil backup option in SAM's CSP models is intended to represent a backup boiler that burns natural gas to smooth out fluctuations in the system's power output during the day due to variation in the solar resource.
Best regards,
Paul.
