Solar Water Collector Supply Temperature was created by meftah416
Hi,
I am new user. I want to know about how to get the Collector Supply temperature (T_fo) and mass flow rate to the collector (m_c)

Hi Meftah,

You can find information about the solar water heating model in SAM's Help system. Press the F1 key or click Help to open it.

Here are links to relevant topics in the online copy of the Help system:

General model description: samrepo.nrelcloud.org/help/solar_hot_water.html

Description of inputs on Solar Water Heating page: samrepo.nrelcloud.org/help/shw_system.html

Description of results: samrepo.nrelcloud.org/help/shw_results.html

You can also find additional information and links on the Solar Water Heating page of the SAM website: sam.nrel.gov/solar-water-heating.html

Best regards,
Paul.

Thanks, Paul for the reply.
I have actually read all the documents beforehand and could not get the Collector's output temperature (T_fo). The only equation mention is Q_useful = m*Cp*(T_fo - T_fi). I am not sure what that m value means. It is definitely different from m_draw. Please let me know.

Hi Meftah,

From the diagram in the "Solar Water Heating" topic of Help (the general model description link in my post above), it looks like the collector outlet temperature is shown as Tuseful, which is an intermediate variable that the model does not report in the results. I think the "m" in the equation you show is m dot useful in the diagram, which the model also does not report as an output.

Best regards,
Paul.
