Night Production

Dear all,

I am trying to model a CSP Solar Tower that will only operate the power cycle during night, how can I control this setting from SAM? I want to model and understand the sizing of my TES when it is charged during the day and only utilized after the solar resource is gone. Which parameters in the software I can play with to model this behaviour in my system?

Hi Brenda,

You can use the schedule under Dispatch Control on the System Control page to set the turbine output fraction. For example, you could set it to 1 for nighttime hours and zero for daytime hours to force the system to only generate electricity at night.
