Off Grid was created by GraceMortimer
Good day,
I was wondering if SAM offered off grid solutions and if I could change the energy requirement for different hours of the day. For example, 20MW of power from 5:00 to 21:00 and then 2MW at night?
Thank you for your time.
Kind regards,
Grace

Hi Grace,
SAM is designed to model grid-connected systems, but you can use it to model off-grid systems by designing the system to avoid using the grid.
If you are modeling a behind-the-meter project (Residential or Commercial financial model in SAM), you can use the load inputs to define the power requirement in each hour. If you are modeling a front-of-meter project (Single Owner, Merchant Plant, etc.) you could use the inputs on the Grid Limits page to limit the system's output power.
Best regards,
Paul.
