SAM 2023.10.31 is available for Beta testing. This is a preliminary version of the Fall 2023 release of SAM. The Beta version includes:
  • New configurations for hybrid power systems with different combinations of photovoltaic, wind, generic, fuel cell, and battery storage subsystems.
  • New features and updates for Marine Energy and Geothermal models.
  • Many smaller updates and bug fixes.
For a complete list of changes, see the SAM and SSC change lists.If you would like to try the Beta version to give us feedback or preview the Fall 2023 version, please note the following:
  • Install the Beta version in a separate folder from the current version of SAM. Do not remove the current version of SAM.
  • Files that you open and save in the Beta version will not work with SAM 2022.11.21 or older versions. If you use the Beta version to open a .sam file you created in the current version of SAM, save a separate copy for the Beta version.
  • The Beta version expires 11/30/2023.
  • This is a preliminary version for testing. It has known issues and may generate unreliable results.
  • The Beta version requires about 470 MB of disk space.
Beta test instructions:
  1. Download the installation program appropriate for your computer:
  2. Run the installation program to install the Beta version SAM. The installation process is the same as described on Download page , but with different folder and file names. Be sure to install the Beta version in a different folder than the current version of SAM.
