Hi fellas,

First, I want to congratulate the NREL team for the excellent program they have developed.

I would need your help because I have some problems modeling my hybrid system.

I need to model a system that currently has PV+Wind, and I want to add batteries to it. To do this, I have combined the wind and solar productions into a 8760-value production matrix and introduced it into the system in the Generic-battery Merchant system.

Let me give you some context:
- Grid interconnection limit = 6 MW
- Nominal power PV+Wind = 10 MW
- Desired bank power = 2 MW
- Desired bank capacity = 2 hours
- I have input a matrix of random energy selling prices (25 years)
- The system cannot charge from the grid, only from the PV+Wind system

When I analyze the results, I realize that during moments of high prices, if the production from PV+Wind is, for example, 5764.66 kW, I only need the battery to provide me with 235.34 kW. However, it provides 2103.36 kW continuously. I don't understand why it keeps discharging 2103.36 kW repeatedly.

Attached, you will find the SAM model. I would appreciate it if you could assist me with this.

Thank you very much!

Hi Antonio,

SAM's battery dispatch algorithm does not consider the grid limit, which is why it allows the battery to discharge at a higher power than required.

Best regards,
Paul.
