Issues downloading weather files was created by mmckinney
My firm is having issues downloading weather file data both from the SAM software itself, as well as the NSRDB data viewer.

In the SAM software, there is an error message saying "The required 'email' parameter must be a valid email address."

On the NSRDB data viewer, we receive an error status code 429.

SAM is up to date and registered, and this has been a consistent issue for multiple users across various computers and browsers over the last few weeks.

Is this a known issue, or are there any workarounds? We rely on this data heavily to perform VOC and ISC calculations in SAM for string sizing on multiple projects.

Hi Michael,

I have been hearing about this issue from others, but have not been able to replicate it myself, which makes it difficult to troubleshoot.

Would you mind attaching a copy of the 'sam_nsrdb_download_log.txt' file? It should be in the 'SAM Downloaded Weather Files' folder, which the SAM installer creates in your operating system's User folder. If you prefer not to attach it on the forum, please This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Best regards,
Paul.

SAM's weather file downloads use the NSRDB API on the NREL Developer Network . This response about the required email parameter may indicate that the email address you used to register SAM is on the API's blacklist. This can happen if an email sent by the API is rejected (or bounces back), or if the owner of the email address reports an email from the system as spam.

To avoid this issue, be sure your email system does not reject messages from no-reply@nrel.gov.

Once your email address is on the blacklist, you can solve the problem by registering SAM with a different email address and getting a new software key. You can also ask us to remove the email address from the NSRDB API blacklist, but this is a manual process, so may take some time.

Best regards,
Paul.
