Optimizing the installation surface of an existing tower plant

I'm new to sam and I want to learn about the tool of a rapid optimization .how it works. I started by downloading the data of my localisation from the NSRDB (entering the latitude and longitude) and the other parameters in resource and location have been automatically insered .concerning the system design, heliostat field... should I know all the parameteres relying on this plant. how works the optimization in sam? is solar pilot a beneficial tool for optimization.
