Voc Values Exceeding 1500V was created by Sangano
Hello,
For a given string length, is there some allowance built in to help with the argument that if a very small number of voltage values (less than 0.5% of the cases) exceed 1500V, we could still move forward with that string length? Please note that this is with all losses set to 0 and self shading set to "none".
I would imagine the fact that no self shading and no soiling losses (and other losses) are modelled would lead to concluding that the actual value observed will be lower and the fact that no module degradation over time is taken into consideration means that the values obtained only represent Year 1 scenarios and will become lower in subsequent years. The question becomes about how much higher than 1500V one could go and how many instances above 1500V are too many.
Looking to hear any insights on this from the SAM team.

Thanks,

Aristide

Hi Aristide,

SAM can give you some insight into how often the PV array might exceed a given voltage threshhold given your assumptions about the system design and weather data. You can use the model's time series outputs to see how the operating voltages are affected by the irradiance and ambient temperature conditions.

SAM does not prevent you from modeling a system design that might not meet design requirements of electrical code or other regulations.

Best regards,
Paul.
