Hi all,Is it possible to generate a wind rose with the downloaded wind data?..when we import a wind farm layout, SAM expects a file with 2 columns with data in meters (similar to UTM coordinates).  Could someone upload an example file to see the structure?…

best,
Alvarez

Hi Alvarez,

SAM does not generate wind rose plots.

The CSV format for wind is described in SAM's Help system, in the "Weather File Formats" section. Attached is an example.

Best regards,
Paul.

Hi Paul,

thank you,
in the second question I was referring to how SAM expects the input files regarding importing a wind farm layout.

best,
Alvarez

Thank you Paul.

Hi all users,

Any tool that you recommend to make a wind rose with the data downloaded from NREL's windtoolkit? What do you use? I work on OSX Mac System.

best,
Alvarez

Hi Alvarez,

As far as I am aware, the only open source tool which can do this is Continuum  (website here) . I haven't used it much myself but it seems quite feature rich!

Best regards,
Matt
