Hi,
I looking for a straightforward procedure for calculating Isc.
there is a training video in SAM for modeling and also some articles about it but there is no clear way how does it calculated.
how can I add a 3-hr weather document to the SAM?

Hi Seyed Amir,

For SAM's CEC Module Model, the short circuit current (Isc) equation is described in Equation 10.30 in Gilman, P.; Dobos, A.; DiOrio, N.; Freeman, J.; Janzou, S.; Ryberg, D. (2018) SAM Photovoltaic Model Technical Reference Update. 93 pp.; NREL/TP-6A20-67399. ( PDF 1.8 MB )

For other publications about SAM's PV models see sam.nrel.gov/photovoltaic/pv-publications.html.

SAM's solar models require a weather file with hourly or subhourly data. It is not possible to run SAM with a 3-hour weather file.
