Hello,
I'm wondering if you have plans to add a POA irradiance transposition option from GHI-only weather file irradiance data.
Thanks!

Hello,
SAM's solar models require weather data with a combination of either DNI/DHI, DNI/GHI, or GHI/DHI in addition to meteorological data (ambient temperature, wind speed, etc.) as described in samrepo.nrelcloud.org/help/weather_data_elements.htm .
We do not currently have plans to add an option for GHI-only data.
Best regards,
Paul.

Thanks again for all your continued support.
One of our primary use cases of NREL's SAM is to have an off-the-shelf, reputable software program that can handle (i.e., model or transpose) subhourly data. With the increasing prevalence of distributed generation DG projects in the USA, we're seeing a significant increase in PV systems which only have GHI data monitoring (no DHI, no DNI, no POA irradiance). It would be extremely valuable to us (as well as our customers & others) to have the option (feature) in NREL's SAM to import GHI-only irradiance data & be able to proceed w/ POA irradiance transpositions & other modeling (albeit at a higher uncertainty than the present options in NREL's SAM), similar to other PV simulation software programs which allow GHI-only (but only at an hourly data modeling time interval or else require significant extra effort to ingest & run subhourly data).

Hello,
Thank you for the suggestion. This request is on our list: github.com/NREL/SAM/issues/867
We do not yet have support for work on that. We will update the GitHub issue if/when we start work on adding a new feature.
Best regards,
Paul.
