Total Required Aperture vs Total Aperture Reflective Area (CSP) was created by Bernardo
Hello.
I'm modelling a CSP plant and I have some doubts related with solar field area.
Total Required Aperture Area is calculated based on DNI Design, Cycle Thermal Power and Total Loop Conversion Efficiency, that is, with the inputs that we chose.
Total Aperture Reflective Area is calculated based on Single Loop Aperture, based on Collector specifications, and the actual number of loops.
What we need to do is to try to equal this two values?
Thank you!

Hi Bernardo,
The "Total required aperture, SM=1" is a design value. When SAM calculates the "Total aperture reflective area," it accounts for the constraints imposed by the collector dimensions and number of collectors in the loop so the "actual" value may be different from the "required" value.
Best regards,
Paul.

Hi Paul.
It is different, but for example, if I'm modeling a solar field with SM=1 , the values of "Total required aperture" and "Total aperture reflective area" should be similar?
We define "Total Aperture Reflective Area" with the type of collector and number of assemblies in the loop and it gives a value fully arbitrated...
Are there any imposition that we can use to define that?
Best regards,
Bernardo.

Hi Bernardo,
There may be a slight difference between these values, depending on the collector dimensions from the Collectors (SCAs) page.
The description in the Solar Field Help topic may be helpful:

Best regards,
