Missing PV modules and inverters was created by thedudemack
After the latest update several PV modules and inverters were no longer in the library (for example, Suniva modules, some Fronius inverters). Was this intentional?

Hi Aaron,

We use the California  Energy Commission (CEC) solar equipment lists to build SAM's module and inverter library. See the CEC website for their policy on removing equipment from the list:

www.energy.ca.gov/programs-and-topics/programs/solar-equipment-lists

Please see this post for information about modeling PV modules and inverters not in SAM's libraries:

sam.nrel.gov/forum/forum-general/2768

Best regards,
Paul.

OK, thanks for the answers. Instead of removing them from the database, wouldn't it make more sense to have an archived option which allows folks to model systems that use modules that are no longer supported without having to enter the information from the datasheet? It's just a thought.

       Thanks,
       Aaron

Hi Aaron,

Thank you for the suggestion. We made the decision to keep the SAM library in sync with the CEC database to simplify the task of maintaining the library and to avoid having duplicate equipment in the list when parameter values are updated from one version of the database to the next.

Processing the CEC Excel file, converting the data to SAM's library format, generating the model coefficients, and testing the resulting coefficients requires some effort. This approach is an efficient way to ensure the quality of the data in the library.

Best regards,
Paul.
