Hi,
currently we have an existing PV plant that suffers from curtailments.
We want to simulate the addition of a battery system that could be charged either from the grid or from the PV arrays.
If we specify in SAM both the total generation from the PV plant (without curtailments) and the expected curtailments (kWh), will the model make use of that energy currently not sold to the grid (due to curtailment) to charge the battery?
Thanks

Hi Marco,
The automated dispatch option for front-of-meter batteries is not aware of the grid curtailment and interconnection limit inputs, so it cannot dispatch the battery in response to those grid limits.
We hope to make this possible in the future as documented on the SAM GitHub repository here:
github.com/NREL/SAM/issues/181
Best regards,
Paul.
