Override the angle of incidence (aoi) calculation to simulate an azimuth tracker was created by russ.jones@ieee.org
Hello SAM wizards,
I would like to adapt the pvwatts (v8 or v7) to simulate some trackers other than the standard ones offered, for example an azimuth tracker (vertical axis, but the modules are tilted relative to the rotation axis). It's easy to calculate the angle of incidence. Is it possible to override the calculation and supply my own 8760h array for the aoi? Or if not, what would be the recommended approach?

Hi Russ,
We recently added a request for a similar feature to our wish list, which I just updated to include your suggestion: github.com/NREL/SAM/issues/850
The Detailed PV model (pvsamv1) does have an azimuth axis tracking option that might suit your needs.
Best regards,
Paul.
