Energy Yield calculation - Detailed PV model was created by Ana Ibanez
Dear Paul,
I do not fully understand how the Energy Yield (kWh/kW) is calculated.
According to the info in the Help section, it is as follows: Energy Yield (kWh/kW) = Net Annual Energy (AC kWh) ÷ Nameplate Capacity (DC kW)
But in the model I’m working on, I get an Annual Energy (year 1) of 143,080,528 kWh and the DC nameplate capacity of the systems is 62,496 kW. So the Energy Yield should be 2,289 kWh/kW. Instead, in the Summary page it displays 2,368 kWh/kW.
Thanks in advance.
Best regards,
Ana

Hi Ana,
Be sure to use the Nameplate DC Capacity from the System Design page for that calculation.
If you still get a different result, please attach a copy of your .sam file so I can investigate.
Best regards,
Paul.

Hi Paul,
Yes, the Nameplate DC Capacity in the System Design page is 62,496 kW.
Please, find attached the .sam file.
Thanks a lot.

Hello
I am having the same. What the energy yield considers as calculation?

Hello,
I am encountering the exact same problem as mentioned above. The annual AC energy 624'455 MWh
The nameplate DC is 261 MWp
This should give a Specific yield of 2392.5 kWh/kWp, but the summary gives 2557 kWh/kWp, which doesn't make sense to me.
Do you know where this comes from?
Thank you,
Kind regards,
A. Magnus

Hi Magnus,
Could you attach the .sam file that generates those results? In my tests, the "energy yield" metric is correctly calculated.
The description of the metric is in the "Performance Metrics" section of Help:
samrepo.nrelcloud.org/help/mtp_kwhkwyear1.htm
The source code for the calculation is here:
github.com/NREL/ssc/blob/develop/ssc/cmod_pvsamv1.cpp#L3183
Best regards,
Paul.
