Capacity factor in tower CSP was created by Charlie
Dear Paul,
I am simulating a central tower plant in SAM. I have carried out a parametric study to know the influence of the multiple solar and the storage capacity in the plant factor. However, it seems doubtful to me that after reaching a maximum the capacity factor decreases, even though the solar multiplier increases. What would be a possible explanation for this behavior, please? According to me, it should remain constant after reaching a maximum.
I would greatly appreciate your guidance please.

Hi Charlie,
For systems with lower storage capacities and higher solar multiples could be experiencing higher losses. To explore that possibility, you would have to look at the time series simulation results for a single case.
Best regards,
Paul.
