Solar field/energy storage heat exchanger for same HTF was created by Ignacio
Hi,
I was wondering if, in a parabolic trough CSP system, when selecting the same Field HTF and Storage HTF (e.g. Hitec Solar Salt for both), SAM models the plant as a directly integrated CSP-TES system (with the HTF going directly between the solar field and the energy storage) or it still simulates it as having a heat exchanger between the two systems.

Hi Ignacio,

Yes, when you choose the same HTF for the solar field and thermal energy storage, SAM disables the hot and cold side HX approach temp inputs on the Thermal Storage input page to model a direct system with no heat exchangers between the solar field and TES.
