Solar Field Optical Efficiency (Generic Model - Parabolic Dish Concept) was created by Lawrence Limjuco
Dear SAM Developers, Can you please advise a theoretical method how to determine the solar field optical efficiency for the CSP Generic Model? I found the formula of it however, it does not contain its functionality with respect to different zenith and azimuth angle. Also, I would like to simulate a parabolic dish using the Generic Model. Will the optical efficiency follow the same dependency on zenith and azimuth angles if the parabolic dish system is equipped with sun tracking mechanism?
Thank you.
Lawrence

Hi Lawrence,
Please see the CSP Publications page for technical documentation of SAM's CSP models:
sam.nrel.gov/concentrating-solar-power/csp-publications.html
The Generic CSP System model allows you to characterize the solar field using a table of solar field optical efficiencies that you generate from a model outside of SAM. The data you provide should account for the design of the solar field.
Best regards,
Paul.
