Hi Paul,
Recently i'm tring to simuate a case for solar process heat with Water as HTF in SAM 2020.11.29 r1, i found a strange thing, when i set different design point DNI, the gross thermal output vary over a wide range, espacilly for those with design point DNI less than 800 w/m2, please see below screen shots:

Hi Joey,
This is a bug in the IPH trough model for systems with no storage. We will fix it for the next update to SAM. You can track our progress fixing this issue here:
github.com/NREL/SAM/issues/587
You may be able to work around this problem by adding a few hours of storage.
