version 2018.11.11 - csp plants was created by denise.matos51
Dear Paul,
I would like to know how much percent of fuel fill fraction is used when we leave the option "minimum backup level" selected at the "power cycle" window.
Better saying, which is the minimum backup leve for a csp parabolic trough with 6 hours of storage?
I thank you very much,
Denise Matos.

Hi Denise,
As of SAM 2020.2.29, the Physical Trough model no longer models fossil backup because the new dispatch optimization algorithm we added in that version does not support it.
In SAM 2018.11.11 and earlier, the backup level is determined by the fossil fill fraction and dispatch schedule in the table on the Thermal Storage page. Please see that input page's Help topic for a description.
Best regards,
Paul.
