Solar PV outputs for dozens of locations was created by Jiajia Zheng
Hi,

Anyone knows how to generate solar PV outputs using PVWatts in SAM for multiple different locations? I am working on getting hourly solar outputs for an entire state and have the weather files of dozens of cities downloaded already. Do I have to create one case for each location and simulate individually? Many thanks.

Hi Jiajia,

You could write an LK script to run a simulation for each location and write results to a CSV file.

For an introduction to LK scripting, see sam.nrel.gov/lk-script.html.

This solar-resource-simulate-multiple-files.lk sample script shows how to run simulations for multiple weather files:

github.com/NREL/SAM/tree/develop/samples/LK%20Scripts%20for%20SAM

The readme at the bottom of the page has instructions for downloading the scripts.

Best regards,
Paul.

Thank you Paul! I have downloaded the .lk files, and modified the codes for exporting hourly outputs to .csv files in batch. Your answer was very helpful.
