Hello,

SAM displays this error when there is a problem with the Detailed Photovoltaic model shading inputs when the partial shading model is enabled.

Could you attach a copy of the .sam file that generates the error so I can help troubleshoot?

Best regards,
Paul.

Hi again,

After reviewing the file you sent by email, I think the problem is with the EPW weather file.

Please try running the Solar Resource File Converter macro to convert the EPW file to the SAM CSV format. This will remove extra data that SAM does not use, and make it easier to see the weather data in the file. After I converted an EPW file, the simulation ran without generating an error:

  1. Start SAM, and open the file that causes the error.
  2. Click Macros under the Simulate button.
  3. Click Solar Resource File Converter in the list of macros to select it.
  4. At the top right corner of the Macros page, choose EPW from the Weather file format list.
  5. Click Run macro. This will create a new SAM CSV file with the same name as the EPW format with "_samcsv" appended.
  6. Go to the Location and Resource page and choose the SAM CSV version of your EPW file.
  7. Click Simulate to run a simulation.

Best regards,
Paul.

This issue will be fixed in the Fall 2020 version of SAM: github.com/NREL/SAM/issues/365 .

Best regards,
Paul.
