Dear Forum,

First, I would like to introduce myself. My name is Adrian Hernandez. I’m a student of the University of Aberdeen in Scotland. My MSc is in Oil and Gas Enterprise Management. Currently, I’m working on a project for the possible implementation of a CSP plant for Steam generation to be used in Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) activities. I would like to use the SAM software to perform some simulations that could be useful for my analysis. Basically, I would like to calculate the potential energy performance of a CSP plant in term of field efficiency, field thermal power produced, and steam output. For this plant I would like to use Parabolic Trough receivers. However, I believe that SAM  only allows CSP modelling for steam generation with Linear Fresnel receivers. Therefore, my question is, is it possible to model steam generation for EOR industrial application using Parabolic Trough receivers? If so, which module should I use?

Thank you in advance.

Kind regards,

Adrian Hernandez

Dear Adrian,

You can use the "Parabolic Trough Heat" model to model a parabolic trough for a process heat application.

Best regards,
Paul.
